The National Seed Scheme is run in conjunction by Kings Seeds and the National Allotment Society. The scheme entitles allotment associations who are members of the NAS to purchase seeds through a members’ catalogue produced by Kings Seeds. Ordering through the catalogue gives members the opportunity to buy seeds at prices almost half those in normal seed catalogues or at garden centres.
As a member of the National Society, BALGA have offered this scheme to their members for many years.
BALGA members must pick up a Kings Seed catalogue from the members’ shop and must use the green order form provided with the catalogue. By placing an order in October, members earn a 7.5% discount off their order on all vegetable and flowers seeds as well as standard packs of onion sets, shallots and garlic. This is given as a cashback when their seeds are delivered in December .
For the 2021 season, BALGA members are encouraged to order additional seed potatoes from the catalogue as we will only be stocking a limited variety in the members’ shop. The catalogue prices are not as keen as those available from the shop but is still better than other outlets. Please note the 7.5% discount is not available on seed potatoes, sundries or fruit bushes/trees and plants.
The varieties being stocked in the members’ shop for 2021 will be updated later this season and they will be first available to purchase at our annual Potato Weekend in February 2021.
Further information and how to place your order can be found on the info sheet contained with the green order form in the catalogue.
BALGA receives 10% of the total order value that is sent to Kings Seeds, so by ordering via the catalogue, not only are you saving money but you are also helping raise funds for the association.
