COVID-19 Update January 2021

Following on from the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday (4 January 2021), we would like to remind our members of the following guidelines to keep everyone safe during this national lockdown:

  • Any plotholder or co-worker who is self-isolating because a household member is ill with, or apparently suffering symptoms that could be caused by the virus, should NOT visit the allotment site or the Members’ Shop for the specified period.
  • No non-member or unauthorised person should visit an allotment site particularly if they fall within the most vulnerable category for the duration of this emergency. If they do visit, the relevant Site Rep should be informed.
  • Strictly observe social distancing from each other, always keeping 2-3 metres apart. Minimise contact with each other – certainly no handshaking! Do not congregate around the site entrance gates or anywhere on the two allotment sites.
  • Working on your plot should be limited to once a day.
  • If you have one, keep a bottle of hand sanitiser with you and use it especially for touching anything that may be in common use – gates, taps etc. and, at North Road site, the padlock.
  • Wash hands regularly. A good idea would be to keep to hand soap, liquid or otherwise, for your sole use.
  • Do not wash hands or use detergent in site water troughs
  • Do not share tools, equipment or anything else that could potentially risk passing the virus to someone else.
  • Do not have more than two people on your allotment plot at one time. If you share a plot with another member from a different household, you must observe a strict social distance.
  • You should not pick anyone up on the way and travel to the allotment with them.
  • You should try to avoid taking your children to the plot if you possibly can. If you need to bring your children, please keep to your own plot.
  • If you bring your dog to your plot, please ensure it is kept on a lead and kept on your own plot.
